CYC Youth Golf

The CYC Little League (Beginner) & Big League (Intermediate) programs are an ideal starting point for any junior just beginning to play golf. The participants are first taught golf skills by coaches & PGA Professionals through skill & etiquette clinics before they are exposed to the standard stroke play format on a golf course. All 5 CYC Districts have golf programs.  If you are interested in playing golf this season contact your parish to sign up.  Most districts will start their programs in early April and play into June.  If you have any questions concerning golf, please email buzzswanston@archstl.org or call 314 792-7254

Junior League Golf:

PGA Junior League Golf is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls ages 13 and under to learn and enjoy the game of golf. Much like other recreational league sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with their friends. Each team is captained by a PGA or LPGA Professional, who serves as the coach and is at the forefront of creating a welcoming environment for all to enjoy the game. PGA Junior League Golf utilizes a popular scramble format that creates a nurturing environment for learning and development – both on and off course. With more than 2,900 teams and 36,000 participants in 2016 – and Ambassadors like Rory McIlroy and Michelle Wie –  PGA Junior League Golf has wide-ranging appeal for both youth and their parents.

Junior Development Tour (JDT):

The Gateway PGA Section’s Junior Development Tour strives to introduce young people to the game of golf, in a safe and fun environment, through learning/skill development, course play, and individual discovery.  Throughout the year, we offer juniors the opportunity to learn from PGA Golf Professionals and play golf at the area’s best venues for beginner junior golfers. For 2017, the Junior Development Tour will be divided into three levels of player progress: Fairway Finders (Level 1), Birdie Ballers (Level 2) & the Links Legends (Level3).  These levels cater to the young beginner golfer and provide an environment for development and growth. Eventually, these JDT juniors will progress & be welcomed into the Gateway PGA’s competitive 9, 18 hole, and Tour divisions.
