Mules Golf tied for second after first round at MIAA Championships


Central Missouri shot a team total of 302 and finished the first round of the MIAA Championships 14-over par at Sycamore Ridge Golf Course on Monday. The Mules are tied for second with Central Oklahoma and sit three shots back of team-leader Washburn after the first of three rounds.

Shayne Allan paced the Mules with a two-over par 74 in the first round and is currently tied for sixth place. Alex Springer is one shot in a tie for 10th at three-over par after an opening 75. Travis Simmons is four-over par and 16th after shooting a 76, while Brett Windsor is one shot back in a tie for 17th after a 77 and Cole Dillon is tied for 22nd after a six-over par 78.

Carson Roberts of Washburn along with Patrick McCarthy and Kevin Kim of Missouri Western all shot even par 72 on Monday and sit atop the leaderboard.

The second of three rounds gets underway on Tuesday morning with the Mules slated to begin teeing off at 8:30 a.m. on the back nine.
