With the 2017 fall golf season quickly approaching, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) released their preseason Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll. After finishing 14th at the Division II National Championships to close out the spring, the Mules are ranked 14th overall.
Three of the top-four teams received first place votes. Defending champs Florida Southern tops the poll with 429 points and nine first-place votes. West Florida secured 417 points and seven first-place votes to come in second. National runner-up Lynn took two first-place votes and is fourth in the poll with 384 points. Barry jumped ahead of them to rank third and Florida Tech rounds out the top-five.
The Mules are the only MIAA team to appear in the preseason top-25. They sit behind Super Region foes Arkansas Tech (10) and Ferris State (12). Missouri-St. Louis ranks 18th.
Central Missouri’s fall season starts off in Warrensburg. They host the Mule Invitational at Mules National Golf Club Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 10-11.
