Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course, Hollister to Host Missouri Amateur Championship – June 23-28, 2015
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri’s top amateur golfers will gather in the heart of the Ozarks next June when the newly transformed Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course hosts the Missouri Golf Association’s 108th Annual Amateur Championship June 23-28, 2015.
The event marks the first time the course – previously known as Branson Creek Golf Club – will host the state’s premier amateur golf event and the first major tournament since undergoing a dramatic transformation. Guided by visionary conservationist and Bass Pro Shops Founder/CEO Johnny Morris, Buffalo Ridge Springs now offers 18 challenging holes that bring players in close contact with the natural beauty of the Ozarks.
“We’re extremely proud to host our home state’s best amateur golfers at Buffalo Ridge Springs, a course that’s as challenging as it is beautiful,” said Morris. “It’s fitting that Missouri’s top golfers will test their skills while immersed in some of the most spectacular natural beauty our state has to offer.”
Originally designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio in 1999, the course soon became known as the region’s top golf course, having been rated the #1 public course in Missouri by Golf Magazine and one of the top ten in the state by Golf Digest for 11 consecutive years. Today the redesigned course layout, a collaboration between Fazio and Morris, features new approaches, water features and sand bunkers while bringing players closer to nature with native grasses and even free-ranging bison from nearby Dogwood Canyon Nature Park. The changes and added conservation components are expected to bring national acclaim to Missouri.
The tournament, which dates back to 1905, will bring together 144 of the state’s best amateur golfers. After two days the field will be narrowed down to 64 players competing in match play format. The final two competitors will play 36-holes of match play on Sunday June 28th to crown the 2015 Missouri Amateur Champion.
“Players are going to enjoy the challenge and experience of competing at the newly transformed Buffalo Ridge Springs,” said Scott Hovis, Executive Director of the Missouri Golf Association. “This course is poised to become a top golfing destination and I’m thrilled for our players and all Missouri residents to enjoy this gem.”
Buffalo Ridge Springs is located within the Branson Creek development just four miles south of Branson, Missouri.
