Missouri Golf Post

The William Woods University women’s golf team, presented by Fulton Medical Center, opened its 2018 spring season with a victory at the Spring Break Invitational hosted by Lawrence Tech.

Over the two-day tournament, William Woods shot 59-over par 635 (315-320) claiming the victory by 18 shots over University of Cumberlands, who finished second. Full results can be found here.

Claiming the individual title was senior Katie Warren. Warren fired a one-over par 73 in the second round and was six-over par 150 (77-73), over the two days. She claimed the individual title by eight shots over a trio of golfers.

Improving two spots in round two and finishing second for the Owls was senior Megan Cullen. Cullen shot eight-over par on the second round and was 16-over par 160 (80-80) for a fifth place finish.

Nikki Callahan and Fumika Matsumoto finished third and fourth for the Owls. Callahan finished tied for sixth. She shot 11-over par 83 in the second round and was 18-over par 162 (79-83) for the tournament. Matsumoto finished in eighth place and was 12-over par 84 in the second round. She was 19-over par 163 (79-84) for the tournament.

Lucy Matthews finished the tournament tied for 20th. She shot 15-over par 87 in the second round and was 30-over par 174 (87-87) for the tournament.

Golfing as an individual was Alex Bankovich. She shot 26-over par 98 in the second round and was 50-over par 194 (96-98) over the two rounds.

The Owls return to action on Monday, March 19th when they travel to St. Joseph, Missouri to participate in the Holiday Inn Express/Missouri Western Invitational. The Invite will be held at St. Joseph Country Club.
