University of Missouri-St. Louis Director of Golf Operations Troy Halterman has announced the signing of Amber Wilson (Camdenton, Mo.) and Alesia Gonzales (Tulsa, Okla.) to national letters of intent to join the Tritons’ women’s golf program beginning with the 2018-19 academic year.
Wilson preps at Camdenton High School where she is a three-time all-state, four-time all-conference and four-time all-district selection. As a senior this fall, she finished as the Missouri Class 2 state runner-up, shooting a 143 (74-69), while helping her team to a sixth place finish. She also claimed district and conference individual titles. Wilson also won district titles as a sophomore and junior and a conference title as a junior.
“We are excited to land a talented player like Amber who is also from Missouri as we’ve made local recruiting a high priority,” said Halterman. ” Amber comes from a golf background as her father is a PGA Professional and she has been taught great fundamentals. She is a very athletic girl with above average power that should benefit her in the college game. She was ranked #2 in Missouri and #221 in class of 2018 by Junior Golf Scoreboard. She has been dominant in her local and regional events and even qualified for the PGA Junior Championship this past summer.”
Gonzales preps at Booker T. Washington High School where she has qualified for state each of the last three years.
“Alesia is ranked as the #166 player in the class of 2018 overall and #5 in the state of Oklahoma by Junior Golf Scoreboard,” said Halterman. “She has a very extensive tournament resume and has competed in local, regional and national events. She is a very good competitor who knows how to score and has a great short game. Her fundamentals are outstanding. She is also a great student who will excel in the classroom here.”
