Share

The Mizzou Women’s Golf team wrapped up their season-opening tournament today with the final 18 holes of play in the Minnesota Invitational, held at the Prestwick Golf Club in Woodbury, Minn. (Par 72 – 6,479 yards).  The Tigers ended the day with a team score of 297 (nine-over par) to give them a 54-hole total of 886 (22-over) that placed them 10th overall in the 15-team tournament – and only six shots out of fifth place.

Junior Jess Yuen (Bolingbrook, Ill.) led the way Tuesday with a two-under par 70 to shoot up the leaderboard and finish tied for 17thindividually.  Yuen notched three birdies on the day to counter one bogey and claim the 15th top-20 showing in her 22 career starts for Head Coach Stephanie Priesmeyer.

Senior Cayce Hendrickson (Benton, Ky.) turned in her fourth top-25 finish as a Tiger, as she tied for 22nd overall with a three-round 221 total – the third-lowest 54-hole total of her career.  Hendrickson shot a three-over 75 on Tuesday, carding three birdies on the round.

Senior Amanda Kim (O’Fallon, Mo.) had her best round of the tournament Tuesday, firing a one-over par 73 to finish with a 225 total that tied her for 42nd place individually.  Kim had a pair of birdies on the front side Tuesday, and was level par the hard way on the back, with nine straight pars.

Senior Emma Allen (Southampton, England) and junior Cherise Otter (Bloomington, Ind.) rounded out the Tiger performers, tying for 50th and 67th, respectively.  Allen finished with a 226 total (10-over par) while Otter came in at 232 (16-over).

The Tigers will have just under two weeks off before their next tournament appearance, scheduled for Sept. 21-23 at the Mason Rudolph Championship in Franklin, Tenn.  The team’s big fall event is the annual Johnie Imes Invitational, hosted by Mizzou at the Club at Old Hawthorne.  This year’s Imes is set for Oct. 1-3.
