Women’s Golf Advances to NCAA Championships


For the second straight year, the University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team is headed to the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships.

The Tritons punched their ticket with a third place finish at the NCAA East Super Regional, held Monday-Wednesday in Big Rapids, Mich., at the Katke Golf Club. UMSL turned in a 54-hole score of 913 (305-308-300) and moves on along with Indianapolis (882) and Grand Valley State (887). The trio will be joined by nine teams from three other regions. The DII Championships will be held May 16-19 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas and will consist of 72 holes of play. In its first national appearance a year ago, UMSL finished eighth.

Sophomore Emma Thorngren shot a 54-hole school record 221 (74-74-73) to tie for third place individually.
