If you’ve “adopted” the members of the victorious US Curtis Cup team as we have, you’ll want to know that half of the eight member team has advanced through qualifying and the round of 64 at the US Women’s Amateur going on this week at Nassau CC in Glen  Cove, NY. The team was exempt from local Women’s Am qualifying because of their Curtis Cup selections, as was their Captain, Ellen Port, as a result of her win at the 2013 US Senior Women’s Am.

Six of the eight Curtis Cup women traveled to Nassau CC to attempt to qualify for the match play portion of the champonship. Kyung Kim is nursing an injury and decided to sit out, Ashlan Ramsey turned professional after the Curtis Cup matches, but the remaining six members and their Captain made the trip. Unfortunately, Captain Port and one of her players, Annie Park, did not make the cut into match play. Of the five remaining players, only Erynne Lee lost in the first round. Mariah Stackhouse, Alison Lee, Ally McDonald, and defending Women’s Am Champion Emma Talley won yesterday and are through to today’s double round of 32 and then 16. Alina Rogers of Toronto and the Mizzou women’s team also qualified locally but missed the cut at Nassau CC.
