William Woods Men’s Golf Wins Fulton Medical Center Invite

The William Woods University Men’s Golf Team, sponsored by Fulton Medical Center, who are ranked third in the NAIA, won the Fulton Medical Center Invitational on Wednesday. The Owls shot 12-over par 588 (299-289) for the tournament.

 

The Owls finished 14 shots in front of second place Columbia College. Columbia finished 26-over par 602 (300-302) for the meet. The Owls White team finished tied for fifth shooting 90-over par 666 (334-332). For complete team results, click here. For complete Player results, click here.

 

Leading the way for the Owls today was Billy McKenzie and Jack Clarkson, both shot three-under 69 for the day. With his round of 69, McKenzie shot two-under par 142 (73-69), to win the individual title. Clarkson finished two-over par 146 (77-69) for the two days to finish tied for second.

 

First round leader David Houlding finished tied for second for the tournament. In his second round, Houlding shot four-over par 76, and finished the tournament two-over par 146 (70-76) for the tournament. Will Rushworth finished fourth for the Owls and tied for 11th overall. He fired a round of three-over par 75 for the final day improving five spots in the standings. For the tournament he was 10-over par 154 (79-75). Rounding out the Owls Green team was James Rogers. Rogers, improved by three spots in the standings, shot five-over 77 in the second round. For the tournament he was 12-over par 156 (79-77).

 

Bryan Mach led the Owls White team with a score of 19-over par 163 (76-87), finishing tied for 21st. Travis Reger followed finishing tied for 25th. Reger, who was tied for 33rd after the first round, shot six-over par 78 in the second round. He finished 22-over par (88-78) for the tournament.

 

Finishing third for the white team was Brad Kane. Kan finished 29th at the tournament with  score of 25-over par 169 (84-85). Finishing right behind Kane was Brendan Lindsay who shot 27-over par 171 (89-82) for the tournament for a tied for 30th finish. Rounding out the Owls playing was Tanner Sherman. Sherman finished 28-over par 172 (88-84) for a tied for 32ndplace finish.

 

William Woods returns to action on Monday, October 17th when they travel to Silvis, Illinois to take part in the NAIA Preview hosted at TPC Deere Run, which is where the 2017 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship will be held at.
