The US team, including Carr Vernon from Poplar Bluff, MO, successfully reclaimed the Palmer Cup with an 18-12 win June 12-14 at Rich Harvest Farms outside Chicago.

The ten man squad of US collegians took a commanding lead over team Europe after Friday morning’s four ball matches. Vernon, a junior at DII Cal State Monterey Bay, teamed with Kyle Jones, a senior at Baylor, to split the four ball and foursomes matches on Friday. They lost the four ball match but came back Friday afternoon to win their foursomes (alternate shot) match. Vernon lost close singles matches 1 down on Saturday and Sunday.
