Upperclassmen Lead the Way at MountainView Collegiate

Tigers continue season at LSU Tiger Invite

Columbia, Mo. –  Senior Alina Rogers and redshirt junior Michelle Butler earned top-25 finishes on Saturday at the MountainView Collegiate Invitation as the two shot 2-over par through three rounds of play.  As team the Tigers took 14th overall, scoring 303-284-301—888 (+24) on the tournament. Ohio State won the tournament with a score 8-under par while FIU placed second at 3-under. Both Kansas State and Iowa State tied for third at even par.

Rogers had a strong showing on the third day, as she shot 1-over par after staying even through most of the round. Freshman Clara Young also had a strong comeback in the round. She earned her best score of the tournament (+1) as she tallied two third-round birdies.

Sophomore Jess Meek finished in a tie for 79th overall, shooting 13-over par through the tournament. Senior Laura Kraft finished just three strokes behind Meek for a 16-over par final tally.

Competing as an individual, Haelena Schwemmer earned an 83rd place finish with a final score 14-over par.

The Tigers welcomed a field of 20 teams to the course at MountainView Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. which boasts a 6,227-yard, Par 72 course. Arkansas State, BYU, Cal State Fullerton, Colorado State, Florida International, Fresno State, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, Nebraska, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, North Texas, Old Dominion, Ohio State, Purdue, Texas State, UNC Greensboro and Wyoming all made the spring break trip to Tucson for the tournament.
