University of Missouri-St. Louis freshman Emma Thorngren has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office on Thursday.

Thorngren won the first individual title of her young career last weekend, while helping the Tritons to the team title at their own UMSL Fall Invite.

Thorngren turned in a personal best 142 (71-71), helping UMSL to rounds of 290 and 296 for a team score of 586, bettering runner-up Lewis by 41 strokes.

The first place finish for Thorngren also marked her third straight top-five finish in as many tournaments this fall.

UMSL returns to the links Sunday and Monday at the Findlay Tournament at the Findlay Country Club, site of the 2017 NCAA DII NCAA Championships.
