UMSL’s Markus Lindberg Named GLVC Men’s Golfer of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS, IND., September 15, 2016 – University of Missouri-St. Louis junior Markus Lindberg has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week, as announced today by the league office. The initial award of the season covers the first two weeks of play and replaces the previous GLVC Golfer of the Month award.

Lindberg claimed medalist honors at the Arch Cup on September 6, while helping the Tritons to their sixth straight title in that tournament. Lindberg fired a school record 134, which included a school record 60 on his final 18 holes. He became just the 10th collegiate player to ever shoot a 60, tying the all-time mark by a collegian.

Lindberg’s play helped UMSL to a team score of 561 (286-275), 13 strokes ahead of runner-up William Woods.

The Tritons return to the links September 25-26 at the Midwest Regional at Harborside International in Chicago.
