NORMAN, OKLA., May 17, 2016 – University of Missouri-St. Louis sophomore Markus Lindberg has been named to the Division II PING Midwest All-Region Team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Lindberg led the Tritons with a 73.91 scoring average, breaking the program’s previous single season record of 74.18, held by David Abolt (2012-13) and David Rhoads (1991-92). The All-GLVC honoree posted seven top-10 finishes, including earning medalist honors at the Brickyard Crossing Intercollegiate. Lindberg also earned two runner-up finishes, including at the Las Vegas Desert Classic, where he set a program 54-hole record with a seven under-par 209. Additionally, Lindberg set single season records for rounds of par or better (12) and birdies (113). He will enter his junior campaign ranked first on the program’s career scoring (75.04) list.
Lindberg helped No. 13 ranked UMSL to a school record six tournament titles during the 2015-16 season, including its second straight GLVC championship. The Tritons also produced a single season scoring average record of 296.94.
