UMSL Women’s Golf Wins Buccaneer Spring Classic; Capesius is Medalist

With cold temps, strong winds and light snow forcing the cancellation of the final 18 holes of play on Tuesday, the University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team has officially been crowned champions of the Buccaneer Spring Classic, hosted by Christian Brothers.

The Tritons turned in a 638 (319-319) on Monday, winning the event by 37 strokes. The field consisted of seven teams.

It is the fourth team title for UMSL this season. Additionally, junior Alexa Capesius claimed medalist honors for the first time in her career with her score of 159 (77-82), finishing one stroke better than teammate Emma Thorngren as the freshman posted her sixth top-three finish of the year with rounds of 81 and 79.
