UMSL Women’s Golf Moves Into Second Place at GLVC Championships


WATERLOO, ILL., April 23, 2016 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team moved up one spot to second place with two rounds completed at the 2016 GLVC Championships.

The Tritons shaved seven strokes off yesterday’s score of 311, firing a 304 on Saturday and sits 10 strokes behind leader Indianapolis with the final 18 to be played tomorrow.

UMSL (615) swapped places with Illinois Springfield in the team standings. The Prairie Stars are third (623), one stroke ahead of Southern Indiana (624).

Sophomores Alexa Capesius and Ares Boira continued their strong play to lead the Tritons individually. Capesius is tied for fourth, four strokes off the lead, with a 151 (78-73), while Boira is one stroke behind her teammate with a 152 (75-77).

Katharina Keilich of UIndy continues to lead the field with a three-over par 147 (73-74).

Also for the Tritons, sophomore Alix Beriard turned in her second straight round of 78 and is tied for 13th place with a 156, while sophomore Stefaniya Ivanova improved on yesterday’s round of 83 with a 76 today and is tied for 20th place with a 159. Freshman Maxi Roth rounds out the scoring with a 162 (80-82), tied for 29th place.
