WATERLOO, ILL., April 24, 2016 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team earned its second straight runner-up finish at the GLVC Championships, held Friday-Sunday.
The Tritons turned in a 54-hole school record 920 behind rounds of 311, 304 and 305. Indianapolis repeated as champion, finishing 21 strokes ahead of UMSL, shooting an 899 (302-303-294).
The Tritons had three players finish in the top-10, including sophomores Ares Boira and Alexa Capesius, who tied for seventh place with a score of 229, which equals the second best individual 54-hole score in program history. Boira turned in rounds of 75, 77, 77, while Capesius carded rounds of 78, 73, 78.
Sophomore Stefaniya Ivanova, who ended the opening 18 holes in a tie for 34th place, worked her way up to a ninth place finish with a score of 230 with rounds of 83, 76, 71. Her one-under par 71 today equaled a tournament low.
Sophomore Alix Beriard (78-78-82 – 238;T20th) and freshman Maxi Roth (80-82-79 – 241; T27th) rounded out the scoring.
UMSL should officially learn of its seventh straight NCAA East Regional bid tomorrow when the NCAA unveils its tournament field. The Tritons were ranked No. 5 in the latest regional rankings.
