PANA, ILL. – Led by three top-five finishes, including a runner-up placing from sophomore Alexa Capesius, the University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team won its second tournament of the season, taking top honors at its own UMSL Fall Invite at Oak Terrace.
The Tritons turned in a score of 608 behind rounds of 300 and 308 and finished 16 strokes ahead of runner-up Southern Indiana in the 10-team field. UMSL’s score of 608 also ties the third best 36-hole performance in program history.
Capesius carded a 147 (72-75), which was bettered only by medalist Rachel Sweeny of Lewis, who posted a 143 (73-70).
Also for the Tritons, sophomores Maxi Roth (74-78 – 152) and Ares Boria (75-78 – 153) placed fourth and fifth, respectively.
Sophomore Stefaniya Ivanova finished just outside the top-10 in a tie for 11th place with a 156 (79-77), while juniorMiranda Rohlfing rounded out the scoring with a 174 (85-89 – 174), tying for 46th place.
UMSL will close out the fall portion of its schedule October 26-27 at the Trevecca Fall Invite in Nashville, Tenn.
