
UMSL Places Fourth in Highly Competitive DII National Preview
The No. 10 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team broke a 54-hole school record en route to placing fourth at the NCAA DII Preview on Monday and Tuesday, hosted by No. 7 ranked and defending national champion Saint Leo, the Central Florida Sports Commission and Experience Kissimmee.
The Tritons put together a team score of 859 (289-284-286) in the 18-team field, which consisted of 12 teams ranked inside the top 25. No. 4 ranked Lynn took the team title with a 19-under par 845. UMSL bettered its previous school record of 863, set at last season’s GLVC Championships.
Individually, senior Julien de Poyen placed ninth with a 212 (72-68-72) for his third top 10 finish in as many tournaments this fall.
Sophomore James Henderson carded a four-under 68 on his final 18 holes for the top UMSL score of the final day.
UMSL is back on the links next Monday and Tuesday, hosting the Midwest Regional at Fox Run Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.
