UMSL Men’s Golf Ties for Fourth at 30-Team Midwest Regional at Purgatory


Noblesville, Ind., April 11, 2016 – The No. 18 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team tied for fourth place in the 30-team field at the Midwest Regional at Purgatory, held Sunday and Monday.

The Tritons turned in a team score of 607 (307-300), finishing seven strokes behind team champion Northwood (299-301 – 600). Lewis was second (299-303 – 602), while Indianapolis was third (304-299 – 603). UMSL tied with Wayne State (310-297).

Freshman James Henderson led the Tritons with a 151 (76-75), tying for 15th place, while sophomore Markus Lindberg (78-74), junior Julien de Poyen (77-75) and senior Anthony Cope (76-76) were all one stroke back with 152s, tying for 21st place. Senior Colby Yates rounded out the scoring with a 155 (78-77), tying for 44th place.

Northwood’s Matt Garland claimed medalist honors with his three-under par 141 (73-68).

UMSL now turns its attention to the GLVC Championships, which runs from Sunday to Tuesday in Springfield, Ill.
