
UMSL Men’s Golf Places 7th at UNA Spring Classic
MUSCLE SHOALS, ALA., March 29, 2016 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team recorded a seventh place finish at the North Alabama Spring Classic, held Monday and Tuesday.
The Tritons turned in a 54-hole score of 890 (309-289-292) and were led by junior Julien de Poyen who shot rounds of 74, 76 and 70 for a score of 220, tying for 12th place.
Lee captured the team title, defeating the host Lions in a playoff as both teams finished with an 865 in the 14-team field. North Alabama’s Austin Sparks (72-65-74 – 211) claimed medalist honors, which was also determined by a playoff.
Also for UMSL, senior Anthony Cope shot a 223 (77-74-72), tying for 21st place, while senior Colby Yates carded a 225 (80-70-75), tying for 26th place. Sophomore Markus Lindberg (78-71-78 – 227; T32nd) and junior Matt Barry (83-74-75 – 227; T52nd) rounded out the top five, while freshman James Henderson competed as an individual, shooting a 226 (75-72-79) to tie for 30th.
The Tritons return to the links next Monday and Tuesday at the Argonaut Invitational, hosted by West Florida.
