UMSL Men’s Golf finish Third in Midwest Regional

EUREKA, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team turned in a 610 to finish in third place in the 24-team Midwest Regional at Fox Run, hosted by the Tritons, on Monday and Tuesday.

UMSL finished four strokes behind team champion Ferris State (610) and one stroke behind runner-up Lewis (609), shooting rounds of 303 and 307.

Senior Colby Yates (80-73) and junior Julien de Poyen (74-79) each shot a 153 to lead the Tritons, tying for 12th place. Other scores included senior Anthony Cope (78-76 – 154; T17th), sophomore Markus Lindberg (74-81 – 155; T26th) and junior Jose Acevedo (77-79 – 156; T33rd).

Medalist honors went to McKendree’s Keenai Sampson, who finished two-under 142 (68-74).

UMSL will close out the fall portion of its season October 26-27 in Puerto Rico at the Illinois Springfield Island Getaway.
