UMSL Men’s Golf Earns Top Seed in GLVC Championship Match Play on Tuesday

The No. 11 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team is one step closer to defending its Great Lakes Valley Conference championship, earning the top seed in tomorrow’s match play after finishing first in the 54-hole stroke play.

 

The Tritons posted a 54-hole team score of 871, carding rounds of 288, 292 and 291, finishing seven strokes ahead of second place Indianapolis (290-299-289 – 878) in the 14-team field.

 

The Tritons will face No. 4 seed Bellarmine in tomorrow’s semifinal at 8 a.m., while UIndy will face No. 3 seed Drury. The winners of the two semifinals will meet in the afternoon to play for the GLVC team title. The Tritons are in match play for the fifth straight year.

 

Individually, UMSL had three players earn All-GLVC honors for their top five finishes, including senior Julien de Poyen, who was third with a 216 and junior Markus Lindberg and senior Jose Acevedo, who tied for fourth with a 218.
