UMSL Men’s Golf, de Poyen Win Titles at Frito Lay/All State Intercollegiate

PHILADELPHIA, MISS., February 15, 2016 – With inclement weather cancelling the final round of the Frito Lay/All State Intercollegiate, hosted by Jackson State, the University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team has captured its fourth win of the year.

The Tritons owned a 22 stroke lead after yesterday’s first round, with those scores serving as final results. UMSL shot a 289, while runner-up Florida A&M was second in the seven-team field with a 311.

Junior Julien de Poyen was also declared the individual winner, the first of his career, by carding a 70. Senior Anthony Cope was runner-up with a 71, while senior Colby Yates took third place with a 73. Sophomore Stephan Sorg tied for fourth with a 75, while sophomore Markus Lindberg tied for sixth with a 76.

Competing as individuals were freshman James Henderson, who tied for fourth with a collegiate low round of 75, junior Jose Acevedo (79, T13th) and junior Matt Barry (84, T26th).

UMSL returns to the links February 28-29, hosting the Las Vegas Desert Classic in Las Vegas, Nev.
