Tritons earn GLVC Coach of the Year and Other Honors


Troy Halterman named GLVC Coach of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – University of Missouri-St. Louis head coach Troy Halterman has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Coach of the Year.

Halterman earns GLVC Coach of the Year honors for the second time in his career, having also been voted in 2011. He directed UMSL to the program’s first-ever GLVC championship this year, defeating Lewis, 3-2, in the match play final after a 3-2 win over two-time defending champion Indianapolis in the semifinals.

Halterman’s Tritons have recorded eight top-five finishes this season and own a scoring average of 298.85, which ranks as the second best on the program’s single season charts. UMSL, ranked No. 21 in the latest Golfweek NCAA DII Coaches Poll, is making its 10th NCAA Regional appearance, including its fourth in the last five years under Halterman.

Yates and Poyen earned All-GLVC honors

Additionally, junior Colby Yates, was selected to the All-GLVC team, joining sophomore Julien de Poyen, who earned All-GLVC honors for his top-five finish at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship.

Yates, the 2014 GLVC Player of the Year, owns a team-best scoring average of 75.10 and has recorded three top-10 finishes, while de Poyen boasts a scoring average of 75.90. He has also recorded three top-10 finishes, including a third place showing at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships.

Yates and Cope of Men’s Golf Named to Division II PING All-Region Team

Yates and Cope All Region

NORMAN, OKLA. – Juniors Colby Yates and Anthony Cope of the University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team have all been named to the Division II PING All-Midwest Region Team, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Yates, who earns PING All-Region honors for the second straight year, posted a team second-best 75.14 scoring average with three top-10 finishes. He also earned All-GLVC honors for the second straight season and led the Tritons at the NCAA Division II Championships with a tie for 21st place finish.

Cope earns all-region accolades for the first time in his career after owning a team-best 75.03 scoring average behind six top-15 finishes, including four top-10 finishes.

The duo helped UMSL to a 12th place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships and the 2015 GLVC Championship.
