
Triton Men’s Golf Wins Arch Cup
EUREKA, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team successfully defended its Arch Cup title on Tuesday as the Tritons opened the 2015-16 season at The Legends Golf Club in Eureka, Mo.
The Tritons shot rounds of 299 and 292 to post a 591, finishing nine strokes better than runner-up Drury (308-292) in the nine team field, and had three players named to the all-tournament team, including seniors Colby Yates (76-71) andAnthony Cope (73-74), who each turned in a 147 to tie for third place, and junior Jose Acevedo, who carded a 149 (75-74) for a fifth place finish.
Keene Samson from McKendree finished with a 144 and rounds of 73 and 71 to earn medalist honors.
Also for the Tritons, junior Julien de Poyen (75-75) and sophomore Markus Lindberg (73-77) each shot a 150, tying for eighth place.
UMSL’s B team posted a team score of 628 and was led by sophomore Gordon Hundley‘s 153 (78-75), while freshman James Henderson posted a 155 (79-76) in his first collegiate meet. Other scores included sophomore Stephan Sorg (81-76 – 157), sophomore Brian Wade (82-81 – 163) and junior Matt Barry (83-84 – 167).
The Tritons return to the links September 21-22 at the Brickyard Crossing, hosted by Indianapolis.
