Tim Poe named finalist for Dave Williams National Coach of the Year Award

Central Missouri head men’s golf coach Tim Poe has been named as one of five finalists for the Dave Williams National Coach of the Year Award as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). The award, which is presented by Golf Pride Grips, will be announced along with regional coach of the year recipients on June 5.

The five finalists are Poe, TL Brown of California Baptist, Andrew Danna of Lynn, Steve Fell of West Florida and Howard Vroon of Newberry. If a team wins the NCAA Championship and its coach was not previously named a finalist for the Dave Williams Award, that coach will be added for coach of the year consideration.

Poe, who was inducted into the GCAA Hall of Fame earlier this year, led the Mules to five tournament victories including NCAA Super Regional title. They also had four other top-five finishes.

Poe won the 2010 Division II Williams Award.

The Mules begin play in the NCAA Championships today, continuing through at least Wednesday.
