Teddy Jones Wins the Metropolitan Am

Teddy Jones, a collegiate player at Central Missouri State and native St. Louisan stormed from six shots back with a four-under 67 to win a three way playoff and the Jim Tom Blair trophy as the Met Am champion.
It was a wild day at Westwood CC as the leader by two, John Anderson, got it to four-under before eventually falling back into a tie at -1. Jones roared out of the gate with four front nine birdies and a 31 that got him into the hunt after starting the day at three-over-par. His birdie at 18 for 67 got him to one-under and bit of a wait to see if anyone could tie or beat that score.
Kansas State’s Kyle Weldon was just hanging around where he began the day at even par until he birdied 12-14 on the back nine and thrust himself into the title hunt. Unfortunately a bogey-double bogey finish brought him back to level par and a shot out of the playoff.
Anderson came to the 18th needed a par to win at two-under. He bladed a chip from the front of the green to the rough behind the pin but was able to make a putt for bogey and a tie with Jones. In the group ahead of Anderson, Patrick Riordan made a long birdie putt on the last to match Jones at -1.
So, Jones, Anderson, and Riordan set off on a four hole aggregate playoff that ended with Jones and Anderson still tied and Riordan eliminated with two bogeys. Jones won the championship on the 2nd playoff hole, the 18th, with a good two-putt for a par when Anderson could not make his par.
