Mike Suhre & Rob Sedorcek batlled high winds and a tough field of Gateway PGA Professionals at Norwood Hills CC to earn victories in the first point event of the year in the Gateway PGA.  The event was the first of the new Betz Jewelers Stroke Play Series in which players earn points towards not only the OMEGA Player of the Year, but also the mini-series of 7 Events compliments of Betz Jewelers.

In the Regular Divsion, 3 players finished the day at even par 71 and went out for a sudden-death playoff.  Mike Suhre of OakBrook GC, Gideon Smith of Quincy CC, and Rob Sedorcek of St. Albans, all returned to the first hole to begin the playoff.  Suhre, defending Player of the Year,  made his birdie putt on the par 5 2nd, to earn the win over Smith & Sedorcek.  Mark Faulkner of Lake of Egypt CC and Jeff Whitfield of The Quarry at Crystal Springs tied for fourth one stroke back at 72.

Rob Sedorcek’s 71 was good enough to earn the Senior Division victory by a stroke over Faulkner & Whitfield.  JC Anderson came home third with a 73, while Rusty Cummings, Larry Emery, & Bob Gaus, tied for 5th with 74’s.
