Final Results

MONKEY ISLAND, Okla. — The fifth-ranked Central Missouri Mules golf team opened their 2015-16 season capturing the team title at the Missouri Southern Fall Invitational by 23 strokes at the Shangri-La Country Club. The Mules shot a final round two-under par 286 to finish at even par, 864, for the tournament. Additionally, Teddy Jones shot a final round 68 and captured individual medalist honors finishing at five under par.

Jones fired rounds of 73, 70 and 68 en route to the title. This is the second individual title of his career. Travis Mays shot the low round of the day with a six-under par 66 to climb from 10th place into a tie for second at three-under par. He shot rounds of 71 and 76 on Monday. Alex Springer followed up his Monday rounds of 69 and 70 with a two-over par 74 to finish at three-under and part of the three-way tie in second with Mays and Tate Williamson of Northeastern State.

Travis Simmons shot a final round 80 and finished in a tie for 22nd place at 13-over par 229. He had rounds of 73 and 76 on Monday. He tied with teammate Brett Windsor, who shot a final round 78 after rounds of 74 and 77 to start the tournament.

Shayne Allan and Kaden Macha also participated in the tournament as individuals. Allan shot a final round 78 and finished in a tie for 29th place with a 16-over par 232. Macha shot 75 in Tuesday’s third round and finished 18-over par, two shots back of Allan in 38th place.

This was the first MIAA sanctioned event of the season with the Mules earning 11 points for the team win. Jones received 15 points for his individual title with Mays and Springer earning 13 points apiece. The next MIAA sanctioned event of the fall is the Missouri Western Regional Invite Oct. 12-13. The Mules are back in action next Monday and Tuesday at the NCAA-II National Preview at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver, Colorado, the site of this year’s NCAA Championships.
