The UMKC women’s golf team climbed three spots on the final day of play at the MSU/Payne Stewart Memorial to finish in a tie for eighth place after shooting a final round 302 at the Twin Oaks Country Club.
Cynthia Diaz (Bucaramanga, Colombia) led the Roos in the event, finishing in a tie for 22nd with a three-round score of 226 (75-74-77), while fellow Colombian Maria Henao (Pereira, Colombia) jumped into a tie for 37th on the final leaderboard with a 230 (78-78-74).
Senior Chandler Gallagher (Kansas City, Mo.), meanwhile, carded the lowest round of any Roo on the final day of play with a 73 to move into a tie for 40th with a 232 (81-78-73).
Celine Lim (Shah Alam, Malaysia) became the third Roo to card her lowest round of the tournament on the final day of play as the senior shot a 78 in round three to finish at 237 (79-80-78) in a tie for 56th.
Cyrielle Kern (Curvy, France), meanwhile, fired an 80 on the final day and a 243 (86-77-80) overall to place 70th individually.
Playing as an individual, Victoria Pavlik (San Antonio, Texas) placed in a tie for 65th with a 240 (81-77-82).
Memphis claimed the team title in the event by 14 shots over Murray State, while the Tigers’ Michaela Fletcher was the individual medalist at -1.
The Blue & Gold will be back in action again on Oct. 2-3 when they head to Columbia, Mo., for the Johnie Imes Invitational at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
