Owls hold a 22-stroke lead at AMC Championship


EUGENE, Mo.— The No. 5-ranked William Woods University women’s golf team is well on its way to collecting its 12th straight American Midwest Conference (AMC) Championship, as the Owls hold a 22 stroke lead over second place Freed-Hardeman, after shooting an 8-over par 296, on Monday.

FHU scored a 30-over par 318 and they are 15-strokes ahead of Park University, who holds down third, after hitting a 45-over par 333. Columbia College scored a 57-over par 345, while Hannibal-LaGrange University rounds out the top five, after totaling a 79-over par 367.

Individually, freshman Celia Mansour is the overall leader, as she turned in her scorecard with an even-par 72. Mansour holds a two stroke lead over teammate Jodie Peacock, as last year’s winner, scored a 2-over par 74, to finish in second.

Freshman standouts Katie Warren and Megan Cullen are both tied for fourth, after hitting a 3-over par 75, while Myriam Hassan, earned herself a seventh place finish, as she hit her way to a 7-over par 79.
