Mules Golf wins weather-shortened Washburn Invitational

Due to snow and below freezing temperatures, the final round of the Washburn Invitational has been canceled and the Mules claim the team title after leading at the conclusion of Monday’s first round. Central Missouri shot a team score of 14-over par, 298, on Monday.

The five-man team consisted of Travis Simmons, Alex Springer, Shayne Allan, Kaden Macha and Brett Windsor. Simmons shot an even par 71 and tied for second. Alex Springer was three-over par and finished in fourth place with Allan one shot back in a tie for fifth. Macha was seven-over par and tied for 19th, while Windsor shot a 79, eight-over par, and tied for 26th.

Cole Dillon claimed the individual crown while playing as an individual separate from the team. He shot a one-under par 70 to earn the first individual title of his career. Ian Barnes also played as an individual and tied for 34th after shooting an 80.

The Mules return to action next week at the UCO Broncho Invitational at the Gaillardia Golf and Country Club in Oklahoma City.
