Travis Simmons shot a two-under par 70 to grab a tie of the individual lead as Central Missouri surged to a 299 team score and a two-shot lead after the first round of the UCO Broncho/RCB Bank Invitational at Gaillardia Country Club. The Mules hold a two-shot advantage over Southern Nazarene.
Simmons had six birdies and four bogeys on the day as he finds himself at two-under par and tied with Oklahoma State’s Nick Heinen atop the leaderboard. Kaden Macha, playing as an individual separate from the team, is four shots back in a tie for sixth at two-over par after an opening round 74.
Alex Springer and Shayne Allan both shot opening round 76s, four-over par, and are tied for 16th place. Cole Dillon, who won last week at Washburn and is the reigning MIAA Player of the Week, shot an opening round 77 and is tied for 28th at five-over par. Brett Windsor is six-over par after carding a 78 and finds himself tied for 40th. Ian Barnes is also playing as an individual and is tied for 54th after Monday’s opening round at seven-over par with a 79.
