Mules Golf finishes fifth at UNK Invitational

AXTELL, Neb. (Sept. 13, 2016) — Mules Golf finished in fifth place at the shortened UNK Invitatonal at Awarii Dunes Golf Club. The originally scheduled third and final round was canceled due to travel and weather issues after the second round was halted due to darknesson Monday night.

Alex Springer shot a final round one-under par 71 to finish in a tie for 10th at two-over par over the 36 holes. Shayne Allan and Cole Dillon finished in a tie for 20th place individually at four-over par. Allan shot a five-over 77 in the second round, while Dillon was one shot better at 76.

Brett Windsor followed up his opening round 73 with a 79 in the second round and finished the tournament at eight-over par and tied for 43rd. John Bonaobra also shot a 79 in the second round and finished 15-over par for the tournament and tied for 82nd. Playing as an individual, separate from the team, Taylor Woods finished tied for 31st after a final round 76.

Jay Cottam of Nebraska-Kearney captured the individual championshiop with a 36-hole total of three-under par. He helped lead UNK to the team title, finishing at seven-over par, one shot ahead of Central Oklahoma.
