Mules Golf captured their first team title of the 2016-17 season finishing at 20-over par and posting a four-shot win at the Missouri Western/Holiday Inn Express Classic at St. Joseph Country Club. The Mules had rounds of 291, 289 and 292 as a team to claim the championship.
Alex Springer led the Mules with a third place individual finish. He shot an even par 71 inTuesday’s final round to finish at even par for the tournament, one shot out of a three-way tie for first.
Cole Dillon fired a final round 75 to finish at five-over par for the tournament and tied for eighth, while Shayne Allan was one-shot back in a tie for 12th after a final round 71.
Brett Windsor finished in a tie for 22nd after a final round 75. He was plus-12 for the tournament and Ian Barnes was tied for 40th at 17-over par after a final round 76.
Eli Armstrong of Central Oklahoma and Joby Gray of SW Oklahoma State both finished at one-under par for the tournament to tie for individual medalist honors.
The Mules will wrap up the fall portion of their schedule next week at the Lindenwood Invitational on Oct. 17-18. The MIAA points event will take place at The Missouri Bluffs in St. Charles.
