Buckley fired a final round of 68 to force a playoff after trailing by four strokes and claimed the event’s top honors with a birdie on the first playoff hole. The Tiger went 75-71-72-68 across the four-round tournament.

The prestigious New Year’s Invitational has established a tradition of gathering outstanding players from around the world. Past participants include professionals Brandt Snedeker, Bryce Ledford, Gary Koch and Len Mattiace.

Buckley and the Tigers will continue their 2017-18 season at the SunTrust Gator Invitational from Feb. 17-18, in Gainesville, Florida.
