
Missouri’s USGA Men’s State Team Chosen
Last week the directors of the three largest amateur organizations in the state, the MGA (Scott Hovis), the MetGa (Curt Rohe), and the KCGA (Matt Williams), voted on their choices for the three players for the upcoming 2014 USGA State Team competition at the French Lick Resort in French Lick, Indiana. The three players voted to compete are St. Louisans Skip Berkmeyer and Phil Caravia and Brad Nurski of St. Joseph, MO. The event occurs in alternate years for the best men and women amateurs from any state wishing to compete. Next year the Women’s State Team competiton will be held at Dalhousie GC in Cape Girardeau, MO.
The 2014 tournament, in which the Missouri squad plays against teams from the majority of the other states in a 54 hole stroke play format, takes place September 30-Oct 2. Nurski and Berkmeyer are returning to the team from the 2012 squad which finished in 10th place at the Galloway National GC in Galloway Township, NJ.
