CAPE CIRARDEAU, Mo. – For the third straight season, the No. 3 William Woods University Men’s Golf Team, sponsored by Boone Hospital Center, has won the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Championship. The Owls shot one-over par 865 (297-284-284) for the tournament to win the championship.
By winning the AMC Championship, the Owls have clinched an automatic berth into the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships on May 24-27 which will be held at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.
The Owls shot a 284 for the final round, to tie the tournament low score for a round, which the Owls scored yesterday in the second round.
Finishing in second place was Central Baptist, who shot 42-over par 906 (314-300-292). Columbia College came in third as they shot 49-over par (302-307-304).

For the second straight season, a William Woods individual took home the top spot. This year, junior David Houlding won the tournament by shooting two-under par 214 (74-67-73). Houlding was one-over par for his final round.
Finishing tied for second place was Matt Wells. Wells was two-under par for the third round and finished the tournament one-under par 215 (73-72-70). Houlding and Wells were two of the three players who were under-par for the tournament.
Billy McKenzie finished the tournament in fourth place after shooting two-over par 218 (76-71-71). McKenzie shot was even for his final round after the front nine and one-under on the back nine for his third round. He collected three birdies on the round.
Finishing fifth at the AMC Championship was Jack Clarkson. Clarkson shot the low-round of the third round when he shot 2-under par 70. For the tournament Clarkson was three-over par 219 (75-74-70).
Rounding out the Olws was Alasdair McDougall who finished tied for eighth at the Championship. McDougall shot finished eight-over par 224 (75-75-74) for the tournament. McDougall was two-over for his final round.
At the conclusion of the AMC Championship, the AMC announced Player of the Year and the All-Conference teams. Billy McKenzie was named AMC Player of the Year.
