Men’s Golf Finishes Third at Beu/Mussatto Invite

The William Woods University men’s golf team, sponsored by Fulton Medical Center, finished in third place at the Beu/Mussatto Invite hosted by Western Illinois University. The Owls shot three-over par, 867 (285-285-297).

WWU finished four shots behind winner Western Illinois University. The Leathernecks was the only team to finish under par as they were one-under par 863 (283-283-297) on the day. WWU “B” team finished 80-over par 944 (313-315-316) finishing in 12th place. Full results can be found here.

Leading the Owls was senior David Houlding. Houlding shot three-over par 75 in the third round. Houlding finished the tournament in fifth place as he shot even par 216 (71-70-75) over the three rounds.

Jack Clarkson jumped 11 spots in the standings in the final round as he shot one-under par 71 in the third round. For the tournament, Clarkson finished tied for sixth place as he was one-over par 217 (72-74-71) for the tournament.

Billy McKenzie and Matt Wells came in 14th and 15th place over the tournament. McKenzie shot seven-over par 79 on the final round and shot three-over par 219 (69-71-79) over the three rounds for a 14-place finish. Wells shot one-over par 73 in the final round and was four-over par 220 (73-74-73) to earn a 15th place finish.

Mark Martin rounded out the final Owls on the first team as he was seven-over par 223 (75-70-78) for the tournament. Martin fired a round of six-over par 78 to close out his tournament.

Will Rushworth led the Owls second team as he finished tied for 30th at the Beu/Mussatto Invite. Rushworth was 12-over par 228 (77-76-75) for the tournament. He fired his lowest round in the third round as he was three-over par 75.

James Rogers followed for the Owls second team as he shot seven-over par 79 in the third round. For the tournament, Rogers was 16-over par 232 (80-73-79) for a tied for 39th place finish.

Coming in third for the Owls third team was Brad Kane, who finished tied for 57th. He shot seven-over par 79 to close out the tournament. Over the three rounds, he was 24-over par 240 (74-87-79).

Rounding out the Owls was Travis Reger and Bryan Mach. Reger shot 29-over par 245 (82-80-83) to finish in 64th place. Mach finished 39-over par 255 (84-85-86) earning a 66th place finish.

William Woods returns to action on April 24th when they participate in the American Midwest Conference Championships, which will be held in Camdenton, Missouri.
