Men’s Golf Finish Runner-Ups at Spring Break Invite


The William Woods University men’s golf team, presented by Fulton Medical Center, finished runners-up at the 2018 Spring Break Invite hosted by Lawrence Tech at Grand National Lake Course.

WWU shot nine shots better in the second round and were 23-over par 599 (304-295) to finish runner-up. Host Lawrence Tech came away with a one-shot victory over the Owls. Lawrence Tech shot 22-over par 598 (297-301) for the tournament. Full results can be seen here.

Leading the Owls was Jack Clarkson. Clarkson was even-par after the first round shot four-under par 68 in the second round. He finished with a tournament low four-under par 140 (72-68) claiming the individual title. He won by two shots over Brad Sprinkle of Marian (Ind.) and Kirk Markowski of Lawrence Tech.

Tom North followed Clarkson with a seventh-place finish. North shot one-over par 73 in the second round and was five-over par 149 (76-73) over the two rounds.

Shooting two-over par 74 in the second round for the Owls was Tyler Fieser. Fieser finished tied for 19th
place with a score of 10-over par 154 (80-74).

Rounding out the Owls team was Will Rushworth and Harvey Talarczyk. Rushworth shot 12-over par 84 in round two and 16-over par 160 (76-84) for a 40th place finish. Talarczyk shot eight-over par 80 in the second round. He tied for 50th place with a two-day total of 20-over par 164 (84-80).

Golfing as individuals for the Owls were Logan SmithScott Young and James RogersLogan Smith led the Individuals with a sixth-place finish. He shot two-under 70 in the second round and was two-over 146 (76-70) for the tournament. Scott Young followed Smith by shooting nine-over par 81 in the second round and 10-over par 154 (73-81) for the tournament. Young finished tied for 19th. Rounding out the individuals was James Rogers. He shot 11-over par 83 in the second round and was 14-over par 158 (75-83) for a 34th place finish.

The Owls return to action on Monday, March 26th when they travel to Columbia, Missouri to participate in the Columba College Invite, which will be held at the Columbia Country Club.
