Men’s Golf Alumn Wins First Professional Tournament

Julien de Poyen, who starred at UMSL from 2013-17, won his first tournament win as a professional by claiming the Open Casa Green Golf 2018. De Poyen, who just turned pro five weeks ago, shot rounds of 66, 69 and 68 to finish 12 under par. The 23-year-old from Guadeloupe, France finished one shot ahead of Christopher Carstensen, the defending champion from Germany.

De Poyen finished his UMSL career ranking third on the career scoring charts with an average of 74.75. He was a three-time All-GLVC selection and helped the program to four NCAA Tournament appearances.
