TMGP: What/who got you started into the game of golf?
Maylie: My brother had eye surgery and got told he couldn’t play any contact sports, so we tried golf and he was too little to go by himself so I went with him and that’s how I initially got started.
TMGP: Can you describe your best moment or day on the golf course?
Maylie: Winning my first high school match.
TMGP: Do you take lessons and have a regular teacher? Describe what you do to fix things when needed. Go to a teacher? Work things out yourself?
Maylie: Yes, Jake Poe and Jeff Schmidt are my golf coaches. I usually work on my own and if I need more help or can’t fix it, I go to either of them and they help.
TMGP: Do you have a regular “game” with friends?
Maylie: Yes, I go out with some friends and then I go out by myself too.
TMGP: What’s your best score? Number and what was it to par?
Maylie: On 9 holes at Centralia par is 36 and shot 41. On 18 holes par is 72 and best is 85
TMGP: What’s the most beautiful/scenic course you’ve ever played?
Maylie: Kiva Dunes, Gulf shores, Alabama
TMGP: Have you ever met or played with a current or former PGA Tour player?
Maylie: I’ve met Jake and Richard Poe.
TMGP: What’s the best golf related advice/tip that you’ve ever been given?
Maylie: Don’t let your emotions play the game. Don’t over analyze your shots and just let the club swing.
TMGP: What course in Missouri would you most love to play on and why?
Maylie: The Ridge Golf course at the Lodge of Four Seasons because it looks like a nice course to play on and different than the courses in Jeff City or Columbia.
TMGP: Do you have any specific golf products that you rely on/enjoy using?
Maylie: I enjoy using my irons but I don’t really rely on anything.
TMGP: What’s the coolest or dumbest golf gadget you ever bought?
Maylie: Probably the coolest thing is the Swingyde.
TMGP: Can you share an amusing or little known fact or golf story that your golf buddies would be surprised to find out?
Maylie: Hitting not one or two, but three birds at Columbia Country Club on hole 12.
TMGP: Have you changed out your Long Irons to Hybrids? What’s the longest iron in your golf bag?
Maylie: No. and my 6 iron.
TMGP: What’s your favorite rescue club?
Maylie: My pitching wedge.
TMGP: What’s the course that you play on most often? What advice would you pass onto someone who is playing there for their first time?
Maylie: A.L. Gustin. And watching out for the sand bunkers and all the little hills you don’t see.
TMGP: What would you say are the top 3 golf courses in Missouri?
Maylie: Columbia Country Club, New Bloomfield, and Old Kinderhook
