Lockhaven closing its doors

This sad news was on Facebook November 3rd.  Lockhaven has been an important part of the golf and social scene in the St. Louis area for many years.

Dear Member and Friends,

It is with regret we have to inform you the club has closed its doors for the last time Monday, November 3rd, 2014. This club has been a part of the fabric of our community and we define this as a very sad day. The club wishes to thank all the employees and our management team for their dedicated service and the members for their support and loyalty over the years. Many of these people have made personal contributions and sacrifices in hope that this could have come to a different conclusion.

The campaign, over the last several years, to try to save the club has brought out the best in so many members and staff, but unfortunately has fallen short. The state of the golf industry over the last decade when coupled with our economy have added to our challenges. Please know the decision that was made came after much consideration and only after all available options were exhausted. The Development Board in concert with management have explored many different alternatives, provided personal support and worked closely with the club’s lender in searching for viable options. Unfortunately, all of these have now been approached and unanimously the Board has agreed that this is the only remaining option.

Thank you to everyone who supported Lockhaven Golf Club. This club has been a recreational, social and business staple in our community for many years and we find it very difficult to reach this conclusion. The negative effect this will have our community will, no doubt be felt by many and it pains us to have to reach the only remaining business conclusion.

We conclude by again thanking all of you that been loyal to the club through the years and wish you the best in the future.
