
Lindberg Breaks Records, While UMSL Men’s Golf Wins Opening Tournament
EUREKA, MO., September 6, 2016 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s golf team opened its 2016 fall season by winning the Arch Cup at the Country Club at the Legends on Tuesday. The Tritons, which won their sixth straight Arch Cup title, turned in a score of 561 (286-275) to pace the seven-team field.
Junior Markus Lindberg claimed medalist honors with his school record 134, which included an opening round of 74, followed by a school record 60 in his final 18.

-Lindberg, Acevedo and de Poyen were all named to the All-Tournament team.
-The Tritons beat runner-up William Woods (284-290 – 574) by 13 strokes.
-As a team, UMSL shattered school records as a team for 18-holes (275), bettering the previous mark of 281 set during the 2012-13 season and for 36-holes (561), bettering the previous mark of 572, also set during 2012-13.
-UMSL’s opening round score of 286 ties the ninth best 18-hole score in program history.
-Lindberg’s 60 bettered the 63 shot by Tim Cochran during the 2010-11 season, while his 134 bettered Doug Kreitner’s 136 during the 1999-2000 season.
-Lindberg sunk a 30-foot birdie on the 18th hole to go 11 under par.
-The team win was Head Coach Troy Halterman’s 20th in eight years at the helm.
