Jennies Golf was runner-up finish at Golden Bear Classic, Sobaski wins individual title


Jennies Golf had a program-best runner-up finish at the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bear Classic, firing a two-round total of 75-over par 651. The Jennies tied with St. Cloud State for second place, just two shots back of team champion Bellevue.

Freshman Olivia Sobaski became the first ever Jennie to win a collegiate tournament by tying for the title at 11-over par 155. She shot a final round 76 to tie with Wendy Monfort of Bellevue. The two had been tied for second, two shots out of the lead heading in to the final round.

Elizabeth Leath and Jordan Rehkow both finished tied for 11th at 20-over par. Leath shot a final round 80, while Rehkow whot an 82. Taelyn Entriken shot a final round 82 as well and finished at 24-over par and tied for 20th. Blake Betke finished with an 85 and was in 25th place at 27-over par.

The Jennies finished just two shots back of Bellevue, who shot a final round 319 to finish at 73-over, two shots in front of both UCM and St. Cloud State. The second place team finish is the best ever for the Jennies.

The Jennies return to action next week, Sept. 26-27, hosting their first ever tournament, the MIAA Fall Preview at Mules National Golf Club in Warrensburg.
