Central Missouri Jennies Golf opened their season this week with the Central Region Preview in Olathe, Kan. The rain-shortened tournament consisted of just one 18-hole round which saw UCM tie for second place with a +15, 303.
The Jennies finished just one shot behind team champions Northeastern State and tied with Arkansas Tech. The field saw 17 teams and 90 individuals.
Olivia Sobaski was UCM’s top finisher, she also tied for second place and shot a one-over-par 73. She shared the lead with three birdies over the course of 18 holes. She also did a great job on par-three holes shooting a combined -2.
Behind Sobaski were a pair of freshmen making their UCM debut. Molly Saporito tied for eight place with a +3, 75 and Rosie Klausner was one stroke behind her at +4, 76 to tie for 13th place. Saporito proved effective on the longer holes, shooting a -1 on par-five holes, tied for the second-best score among individuals and also knocked three birdies. Klausner led UCM by hitting par on 13 of 18 holes.
Elizabeth Leath was the fourth scorer for the Jennies. She tied for 29th place with a +7, 79. She reached par on 12 of 18 holes, second most for UCM. Emma Solovic rounded out the Jennies card with a +14, 86 and tied for 81st place.
Northeastern State was the team winner at +14, 302. Peerada Piddon of Arkansas Tech claimed the individual title, shooting -1, 71. The Jennies are back in action again next week, Sept. 10 and 11 at the Northeastern State Women’s Golf Classic at the Cherokee Springs Golf Course in Tahlequah, Okla.
