Jennies Golf third after first round of MIAA Preview, Sobaski leads


Jennies Golf shot an opening round 313, to sit at 29-over par and in third place after the first round of the MIAA Fall Preview at Mules National Golf Club. This is the first tournament the Jennies have ever hosted.

Freshman Olivia Sobaski shot an opening round 72, one-over par, to lead UCM and the field. She holds a one-shot lead over Frida Rydberg of Arkansas-Monticello heading in to Tuesday’sfinal round.

Elizabeth Leath shot an opening round 77 and sits in 14th place at six-over par. Jordan Rehkow shot an 80, nine-over par, and is tied for 27th. Taelyn Entriken and Kelly Welker both finished with rounds of 84 to tie for 45th at 13-over par.

The Jennies had four players competing as individuals. Madison Grisham shot an 82 and is tied for 35th at 11-over par. Alexa Boatman was one shot back of Grisham in a tie for 40th, while Katie Scheffer (86) and Maranda Smith (87) are tied for 55th and 59th, respectively.

Lindenwood is the team leader after the first round at 24-over par after a team total of 308.

The second and final round will get underway at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning.
