Golf’s Westrich Finishes 2nd at Missouri Amateur Stroke Play

Upcoming redshirt freshman Nicholas Westrich took second place at the 2018 Missouri Amateur Stroke Play Tournament this week.

Westrich shot a -4 (280) for four rounds on the par-71 Millwood Golf and Racquet Club course. Westrich shot par or below in all four rounds with 15 birdies and 48 pars.

His best round was the second where he finished three-under-par with a 68. His totaled five of his 15 birdies in round two. He started the tournament with an even-par 71 in round one before finishing with a 71 in round three and 70 for the final 18.

Westrich did his best work on par-three holes where he finished four-under for the tournament. He was also one-under-par on par-four holes and one-over-par on par-fives.

He finished just one stroke behind winner Christopher Obert who was a -5, 279.

Also competing in the championship were JD Pedersen, who finished T34th at +16, 300, Carter Tumminia (46th, +20, 304) and Ian Barnes (T48th, +23, 307).
